How Chandom Lux Started (And Why We're Not a Big Brand)
Share
We get this question a lot: “So who’s behind Chandom Lux?”
The honest answer is — it’s just our family. Two parents, two kids, one small jewellery shop that started in 2025 because we wanted to find a way to balance everything we care about.
This isn’t a big studio. We don’t have a warehouse or a marketing team. What we do have is a dining table that sometimes turns into a packing station, and two children who are weirdly invested in whether a necklace has its gift box.
Why we started
One of us wanted to be home with the kids. The other didn’t want the “work” part of life to disappear completely. Motherhood is full-time, obviously — but we also wanted something that was ours. Something that used a different part of our brains.
Jewellery wasn’t a random pick. We’ve always liked the quiet-luxury kind of jewellery — the pieces you can layer and forget about. The kind you wear on a Tuesday, not just for occasions. But a lot of the brands we loved felt priced for people without small children, and the cheaper alternatives felt, well, cheap.
So we thought: what if we just found the nice ones ourselves?
What we actually do
We’re not makers. We want to be upfront about that, because some small jewellery shops suggest otherwise and it never sits quite right with us.
What we do is find jewellery we’d actually wear ourselves, from different suppliers — some are small independent designers, some are workshops we’ve built a relationship with over time. We choose pieces based on style, materials, and whether the quality matches what we’d want to pay for it.
That last bit matters to us. We don’t want to sell something we wouldn’t buy. And because we’re small and don’t have huge overheads, we can pass on fairer prices than some bigger shops.
The kids are involved (sort of)
The kids help in ways that are sometimes useful and sometimes chaotic. They like choosing which gift box goes with which order. They ask a lot of questions about what things are made of. They’ve also developed strong opinions about packaging, which turns out to be helpful feedback.
It’s a family business in the most literal sense. When we talk about work at the dinner table, it’s the same work everyone’s seen happen in the living room that afternoon.
What we care about
We think good jewellery shouldn’t need a big story. It should just be pieces that are well-made, fairly priced, and feel like yours the moment you put them on.
We care about every order arriving properly — eco packaging by default, a proper gift box if you ask for one. Free UK delivery over £35, always.
If you’re still reading — thank you. We don’t take it lightly when someone chooses to buy from a small shop. We know there are a hundred other places you could spend that money, and we think about that every time we pack an order.
